Cabby

I always tend to tip Cab Drivers. I have this soft spot for them. I don't think they earn a lot and maybe that's why they are cranky and rude at times. Okay, calculate this :

Okay let's just use this as an example alright.

From OU to TTDI = RM 3.60 - Takes you 10minutes
From TTDI to Sunway = RM 12.00 - Takes you 20minutes
From Sunway to OU = RM13.00 - Takes you 25minutes
From OU to Sri Aman = RM 12.00 - Takes you 20minutes
From Sri Aman to OU = RM 11.40 - Takes you 20minutes
From OU to Curve = RM 3.40 - Takes you 5 minutes
From Curve to OU = RM 5.00 - Takes you 10minutes
From OU to TTDI = RM 3.60 - Takes you 10minutes

(I have added 50cents extra to each fare -based on real experiences okay)

Total Money Received
= RM64

Total Time
= 2 Hrs + 2 Hrs (Finding people, toilet, lunch, breaks, waiting passengers, traffic jams etc. etc.)

Ratio
10Hrs / 4Hrs = 2.5

A Day
RM64 X 2.5 = RM160

A Week = 5days of work
RM160 X 5 = RM 800

A Month = 4 Weeks
RM 800 X 4 = RM3, 200

Pay Operators
= RM 400

Car Rent
= RM 600

Conclusion
= RM2, 200 a Month

Now look at that. For us teenagers, of course it seems like a fair share of money. However, consider the fact that this cab driver might have to pay bills, raise his family, other responsibilities, etc. etc. It's pretty much barely enough for the month.

These days, fortunately, they've come up with a more organized and standard system of taxi fares. We used to argue and make a big fuss that these taxi drivers these days cheat us and tag our money. But who are we to make a big fuss? We are rich enough to take the cab rather than walking or taking the bus. These men drives us to make a living and how are they to make a living with empty pockets and just barely enough salary?

So, come on, if you can take the cab, add in a RM1 tip or something. You'll never know what your contribution means to them.
